Replacement glass - how does it all work

How to choose the right replacement glass for your existing fitting

There are four different ways you can attach glass to a pendant or cord set.  You need to use the combination of your lampholder and the fitting that suits the glass

  • Gallery

These attach to the lip on the glass with 3 screws.  The lip is quite thick and has a slight edge to help the screws maintain a tight fit.  Galleries come in different sizes to suit the glass and they all need to be done up by hand, do not use a screw driver.  Our galleries all come with a 29mm hole which means they only work with Bayonet cap (B22) lampholders

  • ES Lampholder

Fits an Edison Screw Lampholder.  This glass needs to have a 40mm hole at the top and usually a smoother finish at the top. Sometimes if the fitting has a cap on it you may be able to use the glass which takes a 2 1/4" gallery but this is a bit of trial and error.

  • BC Lampholder

Fits Bayonet Cap Lampholder (B22) The glass needs a 29mm hole at the top and usually a smoother rounder finish at the top.  Sometimes you can use 40mm glass with this washer but this is trial and error depending on your fitting.

  • Spring Clips

Fittings may have 3 spring clips to hold the shade in place.  Usually, a glass with a 40mm hole will fit but you do need to check the weight.  The glass needs to be light weight for the springs to hold.  Some gallery types may work on this fitting.  This type does require a bit of trial and error
